The Met Office has recently announced the names of storms for this winter: Storms Ashley, Bert and Conall will be the first names of the storms that will arrive during the winter months.
Due to its geographical location, the UK has no shortage of tempestuous weather during the winter and spring months and such weather not only heralds rain but powerful, disturbing and often destructive wind as well.
In Chinese medicine, wind is seen to lead to many debilitating ailments such as colds, fevers or even skin rashes. This typically occurs when it penetrates the body’s defences which can occur around the area of the neck and throat by way of a draught, a gust or even a burst of air conditioning. Once inside the body, wind can go deeper into the body and be seen to be present in the form of symptoms that come and go, symptoms that move from one place in the body to another and in ailments that are characterised by a tremor or a tick.
Such ailments naturally feel unwelcome so the question is: how can one go about preventing that? The answer is very simple: wear a scarf!
Scarves protect the neck as well as throat from wind getting into the area of the body that is most vulnerable to climactic factors.
This simple act will serve as a defence mechanism thereby preventing all sorts of debilitating conditions which can affect one’s health during the winter storms.
The storm season of 2023/24 was a highly active one, with a new record of 12 storms being attributed a name and such storms contributing to many disturbances and physical ailments.
By the simple act of wearing a scarf, one is able to protect one’s health and be left free and untouched by the likes of unwelcome complaints such as a cold, flu or fever.
